Description:

The Department of Linguistics at Université Paris Diderot (Paris 7) is
expected – pending approval – to open a position at the rank of Full Professor
(Professeur des Universités - PR) in Computational Linguistics and Natural
Language Processing, starting in Fall 2018.

Candidates must show evidence of strong scholarship, a good publication
record, and a commitment to excellence in teaching. The successful candidate
will have expertise in computational linguistics, natural language processing,
computer science, machine learning, and cognitive science. The candidate is
expected to submit a world-class research project in computational linguistics
and/or NLP (syntactic and semantic parsing, text generation, machine
translation...) involving multiple natural languages. 

The candidate is expected to join the Laboratoire de Linguistique Formelle
(LLF – http://www.llf.cnrs.fr) and the broader research network to which it
belongs, the LabEx “Empirical Foundations of Linguistics” (EFL –
http://www.labex.efl.org). 

Teaching will involve graduate and undergraduate courses and graduate seminars
in computational linguistics and NLP in the Linguistics Department
(http://www.linguist.univ-paris-diderot.fr). A working knowledge of French is
expected.

Salary is set in accordance with the French state-regulated public service
salary scale.

1. Qualification. All candidates (French and international) are required to
have received the “qualification” by the national committee (CNU – Conseil
National des Universités) before they can apply for a position.  For the
qualification stage, candidates are invited to register online and submit
their dossier before October 24th, 2017 on the Galaxie website of the French

2. Job application. The position, if approved, will start on September 1st,
