Description:

Marietta College is an independent, selective, coeducational, residential,

the historic river city of Marietta, Ohio. The city of 15,000 is part of a
larger metro area of 150,000 located about two hours from Columbus and
Pittsburgh.

The College traces its roots to 1797, was formally chartered in 1835, and was
awarded a chapter of Phi Beta Kappa in 1860, only the 16th institution in the
nation then so honored. Today, Marietta College is recognized annually by the
U.S. News and World Report as one of the top regional liberal arts colleges in
the Midwest, while the community is regularly cited for its high quality of
life and reasonable cost of living.

Marietta College is seeking an ESL Program Director to begin in August 2018.
This is a full-time tenure-track faculty position. Rank will be commensurate
with experience. The ESL Director will teach ESL for academic purposes as well
as linguistics courses in the TEFL Certificate program. In addition to
teaching, administrative duties of the Director include supervising a
well-established ESL program, overseeing full-time and adjunct faculty,
reviewing and updating courses as necessary, testing and placing new students
in appropriate ESL courses, and liaising with faculty and staff concerning
needs and requirements of non-native speakers.

Interested applicants should submit a current CV, a cover letter addressing
the candidate's interest in the position, and contact information for three
professional references. All applications/resumes must be submitted through
our online process. We regret that we are unable to accept applications or
resumes submitted by mail, email, or fax. As you are submitting your
application via this online process, please be sure to provide an accurate
email address. You will then receive an acknowledgment indicating your
application materials have been received.

Application materials will continue to be accepted until the position is
filled. In order to receive full consideration, all materials should be
submitted by November 16, 2017.

Marietta College is an equal opportunity educator and employer that values
diversity. We do not discriminate on the basis of age, race, color, national
or ethnic origin, disability, sex, gender identity, gender expression, sexual
orientation, or religious affiliation. Veterans and minority candidates are
encouraged to apply.

Requirements for this position include an earned doctorate in a relevant
field, such as Linguistics, Applied Linguistics, Second Language Acquisition,
or TESOL. The director must have significant experience teaching academic ESL
and be able to teach the four skills, grammar, and vocabulary at a variety of
levels if necessary. The successful candidate must have native-speaker
competency in English. International teaching experience and experience in
posts of responsibility are highly desirable.
