Description:

The Department of Romance and Classical Studies at Michigan State University
invites applications for a tenure-system position at the rank of Assistant
Professor to begin August 16, 2018. We seek candidates specializing in
linguistics with a primary focus in phonology related to Spanish and a
secondary research area in language acquisition, bilingualism, language
contact or related areas.  

The successful candidate will be a faculty member of the Spanish Program in
the newly formed School of Language Sciences & Literary and Cultural Studies,
housed in the College of Arts & Letters. The School is being formed from the
merger of the Department of Linguistics, Germanic, Slavic, Asian and African
Languages (LGSAAL), the Department of Romance and Classical Studies (RCS), and
the Center for Language Teaching Advancement (CeLTA). 

The successful candidate will be appointed on an academic year basis and will
engage in an active program of research, service and teaching (two courses per
semester), including teaching in the General Education program in the
Interdisciplinary Arts and Humanities in the College of Arts and Letters.
Candidates must show promise of strong scholarship and publication, a
commitment to excellence in teaching, and the desire to work collaboratively
with faculty. 

Minimum requirements include Ph.D. completed and in hand by the appointment
date of August 16, 2018.
