Meeting Description:

The sharing and variations of Han Character is a unique feature among a number
of Asian languages. Korean learns Hanja, Japanese learns Kanji, Chinese in
Mainland China and Singapore learns simplified Hanzi while Chinese in Taiwan
and Hong Kong learns traditional Hanzi. This Conference aims to bring together
scholars, researchers and practitioners from different Asian countries to
foster international knowledge exchanges and research collaborations on Han
characters education and research. Building upon accomplishments and successes
in the first eight conferences, the ninth one will be held in Vietnam in mid
of January 2019.

Conference Themes:

1) Han character education: including theoretical framework, teaching and
learning materials, pedagogical strategies, information technology in Han
character education; classical Chinese or literary Chinese and so on.
2) Researches on Han character: including history of Han character, philology
of Han character, theoretical framework, annotation, study of Han character
etc.
3) Other related areas: research on Chinese language teaching and Chinese
linguistics


Call for Papers:

We welcome proposals for paper presentations discussing research in relation
to any areas that fit within the theme of the Conference: “Chinese characters
education and research”.

Abstract proposal should be submitted via Online Abstract Proposal Form for
review before 22 September 2018.

Conference Organizing Committee will notify the abstract acceptance via email
on 22 October 2018. Invitation letter will be issued to accepted presenters
thereafter.

Format of Abstract:
Abstract (including title and keywords) should be written in English or
Chinese within 600 – 800 words. If it is written in other language(s), please
also submit a version in English or Chinese.

The abstract should summarize the purpose of the study, methods, major
findings with evidence / examples. Please complete the Online Abstract
Proposal Form for review by the submission deadline.
