Meeting Description:

International Symposium on Advances in (Im)politeness Studies 2019 will be
held at Fujian Normal University, 8-10 March 2019. The goal of the conference
is to explore the theme of (im)politeness and emotion from multi-disciplinary
perspectives, to promote further development of (im) politeness research, and
to further facilitate academic dialogue among experts and scholars working on
various aspects of (im)politeness. The symposium is organized by College of
Foreign Languages, Fujian Normal University, and sponsored by Foreign Language
Teaching and Research Press. Co-organizers are Foreign Language and Literature
Studies (FNU), Internet Pragmatics (John Benjamins) and Advances in
(Im)politeness Studies (Springer). We are looking forward to seeing you in
Fuzhou in March 2019.


Call for Papers:

Dates: 8-10 March 2019 (On-site registration opens on March 8)
Venue: Fujian Normal University (Cangshan Campus)
Theme: (im) politeness and emotion

Symposium topics include (but are not limited to):

(im) politeness, emotion and language teaching
(im) politeness, emotion and cognition
(im) politeness, emotion and rhetoric
(im) politeness, emotion and narration
(im) politeness, emotion and philosophy
(im) politeness, emotion and translation

Presentation forms: (1) keynote speech (2) parallel session

Abstract Submission:

Symposium attendees are invited to submit registration forms (downloadable
from cfl.fjnu.edu.cn) to politeness2019 at 163.com with the subject of
“registration form” by 31 December, 2018. Attendees wishing to take part in
parallel sessions would need to submit abstracts alongside with registration
forms. Abstracts should be approximately 300 words. All submitted abstracts
will be peer-reviewed by experts in the field prior to acceptance. Selected
papers will be published in the book series Advances in (Im)politeness Studies
(Springer). Attendees who do not wish to present papers in parallel sessions
are also requested to submit registration forms. Letters of invitation will be
sent out by 15 January 2019. 

Symposium fee:

Regular registration: RMB 900/USD 130
Students (with valid I.D.): RMB 450/USD 65

The conference fee can be paid on site. Conference fee covers attendance to
all sessions, lunches, suppers and coffee/tea breaks during the conference, a
