Meeting Description:

This is the first call for participation in a shared task on metaphor
detection. A session based on the results of the competition will be held at
the workshop on processing figurative language to be held @NAACL2018 on June 5
or 6, 2018, in New Orleans, LA. Papers describing the participating systems
will be published in the workshop's proceedings.


Call for Participation:

This is the first call for participation in a shared task on metaphor
detection held at the workshop on processing figurative language @NAACL2018.

Metaphor is a commonly used form of figurative language. Consider, for
example: ''In Washington, people change dance partners frequently, but not
the dance'' (metaphors are italicized). The goal is to classify all content
words in a text as being a metaphor or not, as well as a separate
classification task just for the verbs.

- 1/12/18: CodaLab competition is open; training data and auxiliary scripts
are available for download
- 2/12/18: Test data is available for download; results can be submitted;
performance is tracked on CodaLab dashboard
- 3/5/18: Last day for submitting predictions on test data
- 3/12/18: Papers describing the systems are due 
- 4/2/18: Notifications for papers are sent
- 4/16/18: Camera ready papers are due
- 6/5/18 or 6/6/18: Workshop, New Orleans, LA
