Description:

The position should be filled at the earliest opportunity. After two temporary
three-year contracts the position will become tenured on the condition that
the candidate passes the evaluation process.

Candidates should be able to teach Italian linguistics in its entire range.
The main research focus of the position is synchronic linguistics. Expertise
in contact and migration linguistics (e.g. in the context of other Romance
languages) is required. Furthermore, candidates are expected to cooperate in
joint initiatives in teaching and research. The language of instruction is
Italian. Since administrative work is conducted in German, non-German speaking
candidates are expected to acquire a working knowledge of German within the
first two years of appointment.

Candidates are required to hold a PhD degree at the time of application and to
have an excellent record of academic achievements in the relevant field (for
example, advanced postdoctoral research or Habilitation project). Since the
University of Zurich seeks to increase the number of women in research and
teaching positions as well as in leading academic positions, qualified female
researchers are particularly encouraged to apply.
