Linguistic Field(s): General Linguistics

Call Deadline: 15-Apr-2018

Meeting Description:

The 2018 LSK (Linguistic Society of Korea) Conference will take place on June
28 (Thu) - 29 (Fri) at Kyung Hee University at Seoul. The two-day conference
has general sessions and a workshop.

Invited Speakers:

Jeff Runner (Rochester U.)
Jonathan Ginzburg (Paris 7)

Final Call for Papers:

We invite abstracts for paper presentations as well as poster presentations
for the general sessions and a workshop.

Extended submission deadline: April 15, 2018
Notification: May 5, 2018
Conference dates: June 28-29, 2018

General sessions: The general sessions aim to feature paper presentations as
well as poster presentations from all general areas of linguistics, including
but not limited to syntax, semantics, phonology, phonetics, morphology,
pragmatics, historical linguistics, psycholinguistics, corpus linguistics,
language acquisition, and language education.

Workshop: The workshop, titled as ''Processing the Silence: Theoretical and
Experimental Approaches'', is to have another open forum to discuss
theoretical as well as experimental investigations of elliptical phenomena
(e.g, VP/NP ellipsis, sluicing, fragment answers, (why-)stripping, gapping,
swiping, and so forth). Language comprehension uses relations between form and
meaning, but in elliptical constructions this mapping involves the linguistic
and non-linguistic context in a more complex way, challenging both linguistic
and psycholinguistic theories. There has been a vast amount of work on this
topic, but many issues remain open. The workshop invites contributions from
researchers who have been working on elliptical phenomena either from
theoretical perspectives or using experimental methods. Contributions focusing
on typological comparisons or based on corpus studies are also welcomed.

Accepted papers for the general sessions and workshop will be given 30 minutes
(including a 10-minute Q&A period) for the presentation. Graduate students are
highly welcomed.

Submission Guidelines:

The abstract must be two pages in length, including data and references. Use
one-inch margins and a font size no smaller than 11 point. Incorporate data
into the main text of the abstract, not on a separate page. Within the
abstract, include the paper title, session title (general session, workshop),
and linguistic subfield(s).

Use the EasyAbs platform for the submission of abstracts. For the general
sessions: http://linguistlist.org/easyabs/lskkhu2018; for the workshop:
