Description:

The Department of Linguistics in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at
the University of Connecticut invites applications for the position of
Assistant Professor in Theoretical Syntax.

Minimum Qualifications:
Completed requirements for a Ph.D. (or foreign equivalent) in Linguistics or a
related field by August 22, 2019; evidence of a strong research/publication
trajectory; a primary research focus on theoretical syntax in a generative
framework; ability to teach graduate courses in theoretical syntax, and a
range of courses in the Department's undergraduate curriculum; active research
interests integrating well with those of the Department’s current faculty
members; and a deep commitment to promoting diversity through academic and
research programs.

Preferred Qualifications:
Evidence of excellence in research; a research profile that expands the
linguistic and/or methodological diversity of the department; expertise in a
second area of linguistics; evidence of potential for excellence in teaching
and advising.

Appointment Terms:
This is a full-time, nine-month, tenure track position with an anticipated
start date of August 23, 2019.  This position carries a teaching load of two
courses per semester, as well as advising and other responsibilities. This
position is at the main campus in Storrs.  Salary and rank will be
commensurate with qualifications and experience. This position will be filled
subject to budgetary approval.
