The Department of Writing and Linguistics in the College of Arts and
Humanities invites applications and nominations for the position of Assistant
Professor of Linguistics and English as a Second Language (ESL). This position
is located on the Statesboro campus, but may require teaching on the other
campuses.

Position Description:
Reporting to the Chair of the Department of Writing and Linguistics, the
Assistant Professor of Linguistics and ESL will provide teaching (both online
and face-to-face classes), research, and service. The ideal candidate will
help to develop the undergraduate interdisciplinary concentration in Applied
Linguistics and the online graduate certificate in TESOL/Applied Linguistics,
in addition to providing support for other Department programs and activities
(which may include ESL and First-Year Writing). The position is a ten-month
tenure-track appointment teaching three courses per term (six courses per
year), and the salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and
experience. Summer teaching is available but not guaranteed.

Required Qualifications:
- Earned Ph.D. (or equivalent terminal degree) in Applied Linguistics, TESOL,
or a closely related area, by August 1, 2019.
- Evidence of initial scholarly achievement and a clearly articulated research
agenda in the area of TESOL/Applied Linguistics.
- At least one year of part-time college-level teaching experience (may
include graduate assistant teaching experience).
- Must be authorized to work in the United States for the duration of
employment without assistance from the institution.

Screening of applications begins November 4, 2018, and continues until the
position is filled. The preferred position starting date is August 1, 2019.
