Description:

We are looking for a world-class expert in the field of language learning who
can put their knowledge and innovative ideas into practice. You will lead a
group of language curriculum experts, and together you will reimagine and
revamp Duolingo courses. You will be part of our efforts to advance Duolingo's
mission through evidence-based teaching. Join Duolingo to feel empowered as an
educator, affecting how millions of people learn. 

Responsibilities:
- Manage a team of 4-5 curriculum experts
- Oversee the creation of effective curricula and assessments for 5-10
languages at a time
- Recruit and train additional curriculum experts
- Propose improvements to course creation tools
- Give input to product development to support effective teaching of a variety
of languages

Requirements:
- PhD in linguistics, cognitive psychology, learning sciences, or a related
field
- At least 3 years of post-PhD experience working in an education-related
field, either in academia or industry (e.g., education technology, publishing)
- Leadership and people management experience
- Experience in second language pedagogy and/or curriculum development
- Research expertise in the field of language learning, (applied) linguistics,
or education
- Outstanding interpersonal communication and organizational skills
- Ability to relocate to Pittsburgh, PA
- A desire to make the world a better place through technology

Exceptional candidates will have:
- Native or near-native proficiency in one or more of the following language:
German, Italian, Japanese, Chinese, Spanish, French
