Meeting Description:

The Language Center of the University of Cyprus is pleased to announce the 4th
UCY-LC International Forum of Early Researchers that will take place at the
University of Cyprus in Nicosia on June 6th, 2019. The theme of the 4th Forum 
is ''Languages: Culture, Critical thinking and Communication''. The purpose of
the Forum is to promote, disseminate and facilitate the exchange of results
obtained by early researchers from different disciplines that directly or
indirectly engage in the study of languages and literature. The meeting is
aimed at early researchers: those who are undertaking a final research project
for their undergraduate studies, pursuing their graduate studies in order to
obtain their Master’s Degree, preparing their doctoral thesis or are PhD
holders in their first 5 years of their academic research career.


Call for Papers:

We invite contributions from any field of Linguistics and/or Literature, and
we are particularly interested in studies that explore the many interferences
and interrelationships between the various languages. The speakers will
discuss the influences that are established between various languages in the
following fields:

- The language of immigrants and refugees.
- The Linguae francae in 21st century Europe. 
- Teaching of second languages or foreign languages.
- Literature in foreign or second language teaching.
- The importance of the mother tongue in foreign language teaching and
learning.
- Multilingualism and language teaching.
- European policies for linguistic and cultural integration.
- European diversity, values and integration.
- Learning languages in Europe.
- European policies for language teaching.
- New methods in language learning and teaching.
- CALL: New approaches for the future.
- Technology in language learning and teaching.

The abstracts should be submitted to the Scientific Committee. The submissions
should include the following: (1) a brief abstract (300 words max.), (2) a
short list of references related to the topic, and (3) a brief CV (200 words
max.). The CV should include the applicant’s full name, the affiliation, the
title of the PhD or Master program, and the title of the doctoral thesis.

Paper presentations  should be 20 minutes long followed by 10 minutes of
discussion after each session. The languages of the event are English, Greek,
Italian, Spanish and Turkish (for presentations).

After the Forum, the presenters will be able to submit an article for the
proceedings which will be edited and published in a volume with an ISBN number
in accordance with the academic standards for scientific publications. The
articles can be submitted in English, Greek, Italian, Spanish and Turkish.

Deadline for submitting the abstract: April 14, 2019.
Notification of acceptance will be sent on April 20, 2019.
