Description:

Visiting Assistant Professor/Instructor to teach introductory composition for
multilingual students and introductory to advanced classes in linguistics
beginning in Fall 2019; work with the Director of Composition, the ESL
Composition Subcommittee, the Director of Linguistics, and other faculty
members in developing curriculum and participating in activities related to
instructor training, assessment, technology initiatives, and program
development; provide departmental committee and program service.  

Required:  
- PhD (for appointment as Visiting Assistant Professor); 
- MA (for appointment as Instructor); specialization in applied
linguistics/TESOL and ability to teach sociolinguistics; 
- Knowledge of ESL theory and practice; 
- College-level experience teaching ESL composition and linguistics courses.  

Position is not eligible for H-1B sponsorship.

Desired:  
Experience with digital writing instruction and instructional technology, as
well as experience teaching more advanced writing courses. 

This visiting position will initially be offered for one year, with the
possibility of renewal. The successful applicant will join a strong cohort of
faculty in Composition and Rhetoric, ESL, and Linguistics in a department that
offers an undergraduate major and minor in Linguistics, courses for graduate
certification in Adult TESOL, and both the MA and the PhD in
Composition/Rhetoric.
