Date: 10-Jun-2020 - 01-Aug-2020
Location: Montevideo, Uruguay
Contact: Roberto Aguirre
Contact Email: ivcslp20 at gmail.com
Meeting URL: https://ivcslp20.wordpress.com/

Linguistic Field(s): Applied Linguistics; Cognitive Science; Psycholinguistics; Sociolinguistics; Translation

Language Family(ies): Sign Language
Meeting Description:

IVCSLP is a multisite scientific event that aims to host the latest research
on sign languages, and to build bridges between researchers, practitioners and
the general public by displaying Augmented Reality Posters in different
locations in Montevideo and selected Uruguayan cities. This conference
provides a venue for international scholars to share their work virtually,
while also raising public awareness in Uruguay on the status of sign languages
and the many applications of sign language research. This international event
is hosted by the Center of Basic Research in Psychology of the Faculty of
Psychology of the Uruguayan University of the Republic, the Faculty of Human
Sciences and Education of the Uruguayan University of the Republic, and the
CIES-IUL of the University Institute of Lisbon (Portugal). The event is
organized in the context of ongoing efforts to increase awareness and
appreciation of sign languages by Uruguayan society. The aim is to increase
the visibility of national and international scholars, engaged in empirical
research, of cognitive processes involved in signing.

Program:

It's a virtual congress of posters. There is not a standard program.

Publication and Exhibition:
https://ivcslp20.wordpress.com/poster-exhibition-itinerary/

The posters and their signed translations to LSU (Uruguayan Sign Language) and
ISL (International Sign Language) will be hosted on the official website of
the event, and made available to any person interested in the field.
Furthermore, all selected posters and their translation to the already
mentioned signed languages will be published in an online booklet with ISBN,
also available on the website of the event.

The dates and places of exhibition are currently subject to change, as the
exposure dates are distant on time and it is not imperative or possible to
have them plenty defined in this dissemination.

The expected exhibiton venues are:
Psychology Faculty (Montevideo and Salto)
Humanities Faculty (Montevideo and Salto)
Engineering Faculty (Montevideo)
Ministery of Education and Culture (exposition gallery).

The organizing committee will record video translations of the posters in LSU
and ISL. Visitors at the exhibition venues will be able to access these signed
translations of the accepted work via their phones, tablets or any other
devices by scanning a QR code that will be added to the poster.
