Description:

The Liberal Arts Program at Texas A&M University at Qatar (TAMUQ) invites
applications for three full-time, academic professional track faculty
positions in English at the rank of Instructional Assistant Professor. These
three positions will have a 9-month academic appointment with an anticipated
start date of September 1, 2020. Appointees are eligible for promotion in the
academic professional career track at Texas A&M University in Qatar after a
probationary period. The Liberal Arts Program is committed to a culturally and
academically diverse faculty, and candidates who would enhance the Liberal
Arts Program’s diversity are encouraged to apply. 

Depending on areas of expertise, appointees may teach courses in technical and
business writing, composition and rhetoric, and/or Foundations of English, an
integrated sequence of courses focused on developing competency in the core
skills of academic reading, writing, and oral communication. There may also be
opportunities to teach core curriculum elective courses. The typical teaching
load is 3:3 for Instructional Assistant Professors. All faculty are expected
to be active in appropriate service activities. Collaborative pedagogical
projects with faculty members in TAMUQ’s engineering programs and in other
institutions are encouraged. 

TAMUQ is a partnership with Qatar Foundation. Established in 2003, TAMUQ
offers Bachelor of Science degrees in Chemical, Electrical and Computer,
Mechanical, and Petroleum Engineering and a Master Program in Chemical
Engineering. The degree programs are identical to those of the main campus at
College Station, Texas. A Texas A&M University diploma is awarded to
graduates.

Texas A&M University at Qatar offers a competitive salary package commensurate
with rank and experience. The package includes housing, annual home leave
allowances, dependent education, local transportation allowance, medical
insurance for employee and dependents, plus appropriate relocation and
repatriation expenses. Faculty members may be eligible for start-up packages
and professional development funds to help them with teaching, curriculum
development, and research activities.

Qualifications:
PhD is required by August 2020 in English, Technical Writing, Writing Studies,
or Rhetoric & Composition. Additional qualifications in L2 Writing, Applied
Linguistics, or TESOL are welcome.
