Subject: Help with Public Speaking Issue

My boyfriend is 21 and is an extrovert. He speaks very confidently yet
sometimes he has issues with communicating with others (keeping conversation).
He explains it as if he has a lump in his throat or as if he’s holding his
breath. although he may want to engage and continue conversation with someone,
he finds it hard to keep it up, almost as if he is blocking himself. He isn’t
nervous or anxious, it’s almost like he doesn’t know what to say next. And he
also believes that, although he has a loud voice, people don’t listen to him.
It’s very confusing and frustrating for him and I want to help him but don’t
know how. Who should he ask for help? I figured a linguistics board would be a
good place to start.
