Sociolinguistics today. Methods for the Analysis of Ancient and Modern Languages (4th. ed.)

Focus: The course (open to advanced students of linguistics) aims at providing the participants with instruments and notions for sociolinguistic analysis.

Description:
The course (32 hours in total) will be articulated into modules managed both
by specialists in ancient languages and by specialists in modern languages.
Particular attention will be devoted to the theoretical frameworks for
sociolinguistic analysis, as well as to the influence on the research
methodology by the nature of the linguistic data (necessarily conveyed by
written materials, e.g., in the study of the past).
