Meeting Description:

The purpose of this symposium is to bring together researchers of language
policy and cultural rights; experts in international law, language and complex
systems; and the representatives of indigenous organizations in order to
analyze and evaluate effects on contemporary changes in the sustainability and
survival of the communities and the emergence of their rights.


Call for Papers:

The Symposium expects to develop the following discussion topics:

1. Diversity, social cohesion and new minorities from a complex system
perspective.
2. Effects from the global crisis on migration as well as on the continuity of
their ethnolinguistic heritage.
3. Policy implementation and actors that make planning possible.
4. Relevance and quality of multilingual and intercultural education. 
5. Methodologies to study sociolinguistic change and implementation
strategies.
6. Diverse functions of writing in multilingual and multicultural situations.
7. Reconfiguration of identities in the contemporary global scenario.
8. Regulations and legal instruments, both national and international, to
recognize and protect minorities.
