Description:

The Department of Translation and Language Sciences at Universitat Pompeu
Fabra, Barcelona, invites applications for one tenure track faculty position
in the topical area of general and specialized translation
English-Spanish/Catalan. We seek highly qualified applicants with a strong
commitment to excellence in research and teaching. 

The Department is specially interested in candidates whose research profile
matches some of the following subjects: Legal/ Economic/ Scientific/
Technical/Audiovisual/Digital media translation. We are particularly
interested in researchers versed in empirical methodologies (corpus-based,
ethnographical methods, cognitive science methods, etc.). The potential for
synergies between the applicant’s research and the department’s existing
research activity will be especially valued. The annual gross salary is ca.
34.000 €. 

Applicants must demonstrate capacity for teaching translation from English
into Catalan or Spanish, and for coordinating the teaching of these subjects
both on the undergraduate and graduate levels. 

Applicants must hold a PhD at the time of application, preferably in
Translation Studies or related disciplines (Applied Linguistics,
Communication, etc.), and must have demonstrated an ability to conduct
outstanding independent research with publications at an international level.
