Meeting Description:

The Linguistics Colloquium serves as a forum which brings together researchers
in a variety of topic areas within the scope of linguistic research. The
Linguistics Colloquium is open to novel approaches in linguistics and aims to
facilitate fruitful discussion and exchange of ideas.

The Chair of Linguistics and Translation Studies with Moscow City University
(Moscow, Russia) is privileged to welcome you to the 54th Linguistics
Colloquium to be held on September 19-22, 2019 at the Institute of Foreign
Languages with Moscow City University (www.mgpu.ru). This year’s Colloquium
will be covering a broad range of topics relating to Linguistic Encoding /
Decoding in Global Contexts.


Call for Papers:

54th Linguistics Colloquium
Linguistic Encoding / Decoding in Global Contexts

Dates: September 19-22, 2019
Venue: Chair of Linguistics and Translation Studies, Institute of Foreign
Languages, Moscow City University (Moscow, Russia)

The Linguistics Colloquium was founded in Hamburg, Germany, in 1966 and since
then has been held annually in a total of 18 European countries. It serves as
a forum which brings together researchers in a variety of topic areas within
the scope of linguistic research. The Linguistics Colloquium is open to novel
approaches in linguistics and aims to facilitate fruitful discussion and
exchange of ideas. 

Topic Areas:

Relevant topic areas of the conference include, but are not limited to:

- cognitive linguistics
- cultural linguistics
- semantics
- morphology
- sociolinguistics
- pragmatics
- typology
- comparative studies
- contact linguistics
- translation practices

Keynote Speakers:

Our ambition is to bring together a group of Russian and international
linguists (among them Karin Ebeling (Germany), Wilfried Kürschner (Germany),
Zoya Proshina (Russia) and others).

Conference Languages:

The conference languages are English and German. 

Abstracts and Deadlines:
 
Abstracts for papers or posters should be between 300-500 words including
references and can be written in English or German. The deadline for
submission of abstracts is March 31, 2019 to be sent to lingcoll54 at yandex.ru
The submitted abstracts will be peer reviewed. Notification of acceptance is
April 30, 2019. 

Conference Fee and Registration 
To register you should send a filled registration form along with the abstract
(see above). Please, find the registration form attached to this e-mail.

Conference fee: 150 €; this comprises the conference folder, coffee breaks,
the welcome reception and a 2-hour bus tour of Moscow on September 22, 2019. 

Conference dinner: 55 € (the name and the address of the restaurant will be
announced later)

The registration fee and the conference dinner costs are to be paid on arrival
when you register at the conference venue.

(A) Theatre (the programme for September will appear in early May and we’ll be
happy to circulate information about the ballets / operas on offer as well as

September 23, 2019 (Monday)

the Kremlin, the Victory Park (Park Pobedy), Novodevichy Convent and other
historic sites) arranged by our students (at no extra charge).
