Description:
The intern will focus on improving automatic speech recognition (ASR) in a
variety of German-language products, including smart speakers, mobile apps and
televisions. Much of this work will consist of analyzing how our lexica
contribute to product performance, and then both proposing and implementing
changes to make them more effective.

The successful applicant will have strong Python coding and analytical skills,
as well as experience with natural language processing (NLP) techniques. 

Your responsibilities:
- Applying linguistic training and NLP techniques to analyze customer field
data
- Uncovering systematic problems in our German lexica and fixing them
- Defining processes that can be used to improve other languages’ lexica
- Creating reusable tools in Python to help with these tasks
- Presenting results of the internship to a wider Nuance research audience
- Perform tasks related to securing and keeping the products, tools, and
processes that you are responsible for securing

Your profile: 
- Currently pursuing MS or PhD in Linguistics or Computational Linguistics
- Ability to speak and write German and English fluently and idiomatically
- Experience in phonetics and phonology, and in NLP
- Experience with Python and working in a Linux environment
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills

Preferred skills:
- 2+ years of professional experience
- Industry or academic experience with large vocabulary speech recognition
- Excellent team player with effective communication and interpersonal skills

Salaries for these internships vary between 800-1600 EUR/month. Students also
receive a lodging allowance of 400 EUR/month in case they move to Aachen for
the internship.
