Description:

The Department of Linguistics in the Philosophisch-Historische Fakultät at the
University of Stuttgart is seeking to fill a full-time vacancy for a W3
professor of English Linguistics as soon as possible.

Applicants should be specialized in one or more core areas of linguistics
other than phonology, since the chair is complemented by a professorship in
phonology. The professor will enrich the existing research profile of the
Institute of Linguistics and will contribute to the Institute’s close
collaboration with the Institute for Natural Language Processing (IMS).
Relevant publications, an internationally visible research profile, and
experience in obtaining external funding are required.

The successful candidate will be head of a department (Abteilung) of the
Institute of Linguistics. She/He will teach all degree courses offered by the
English department (including the Lehramt teaching degree) and modules in
general linguistics. A proven record of excellence in teaching and research as
well as experience in administration are prerequisites. Interests related to
the faculty’s focus on Digital Humanities are desirable.

The requirements for employment listed in §47 and §50 Baden-Württemberg
university law apply.
