Description:

The Spanish and Portuguese Program at the Department of Classical & Modern
Languages & Literatures of Texas Tech University invites applications for a
tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor in Spanish to
begin Fall 2020. The successful candidate should hold a Ph.D. in Spanish
Translation/Interpretation, or a related field such as Spanish Linguistics, by
the time of appointment. Relevant professional experience is desirable. The
position requires demonstrated excellence in teaching at both the
undergraduate and graduate levels including using technology in the classroom
and commitment to pedagogical innovation. The ideal candidate should be able
to collaborate with our existing programs in Language for Specific Purposes,
Spanish as a Heritage Language and Cultural Studies, as well as establish
connections across disciplines. Experience in community outreach to establish
strong collaborations through internships and service learning opportunities
is desirable. Demonstrated abilities to engage in rigorous research and
promise for future research. Service duties include program-building, as well
as commitment to extra-curricular activities. Service to the department,
college, and university is expected. Native or Near-Native Proficiency in both
English and Spanish required. 

Candidates who have very strong records of scholarship supported by extramural
funding and who have the proven capacity or clear potential to bring
externally sponsored research to Texas Tech University are encouraged to
