Description:

The Department of Linguistics at Stony Brook University invites applications
for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor position in the area of Phonetics
and Speech Science.

The successful candidate will teach four courses in Phonetics and applied
topics related to Speech and Language Pathology in the academic year
2020-2021. In addition to teaching, the successful candidate will be expected
to interact with graduate and undergraduate students and assist them with
their research and advise them on career plans.

Candidates should hold a Ph.D, or have advanced ABD status, in Linguistics or
a related field (e.g., Speech and Communication) by the time of appointment.
(ABDs may be considered for lectureship.)

Strong candidates will have a record of research in phonetics and documented
teaching excellence. Candidates with the following experience are especially
encouraged to apply. 
- Prior clinical experience in speech pathology
- Prior teaching experience with introductory speech and language sciences
courses on topics such as: anatomy and physiology of speech and hearing,
language and speech disorders, and audiology
- Experience with bilingual populations
