About the job:

The Institute of Linguistics at the University of Minnesota invites applicants
for a full-time Contract Assistant Professor (non-tenure track) position in
Linguistics with a specialization in syntax for the 2020-2021 academic year. 

This is a one academic year appointment beginning August 31, 2020 and
concluding May 30, 2021. The teaching load for this position is 5 courses over
two semester. The successful candidate will teach three undergraduate syntax
courses and two additional undergraduate or graduate linguistics courses. In
addition to teaching, the successful candidate will be expected to mentor and
advise students at all levels of the program.

Qualified applicants must have a Ph.D. in Linguistics by time of appointment.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in syntax, a
demonstrated excellence in research and teaching, and a commitment to
undergraduate and graduate teaching and advising.

Salary is competitive and will depend on the candidate’s qualifications and
experience. Candidates will be evaluated according to the overall quality of
academic preparation and professional experience, evidence of commitment to
teaching and skills as a teacher, and the strength of recommendations.
