Institute of Modern Languages is going to organize a leap-year conference on
‘Foreign Language Education for Sustainable Development Goals’ at the regional
level. The conference includes, but is not limited to, the following

- Curriculum and Syllabus Design
- FL / SL classroom Techniques
- Technology and language teaching/ learning
- Issues in FL/ SL Assessment

- Second Language Acquisition and local and global contexts

- FL/ SL and Teacher Education
- Future of L2 teaching and learning
- L2 pedagogy and market issues
- Foreign language and sustainability
- Translation

About IML, DU: The Institute of Modern Languages (IML) is an institute of the
University of Dhaka in Bangladesh dedicated to teaching various modern
languages including Bangla, English, French, German, Russian, Spanish,
Portuguese, Arabic, Persian, Turkish, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Urdu and
Hindi. In 2016 BA (Hons.) programs in English for the Speakers of Other
Languages (ESOL) and French Language and Culture (FLC) were introduced and
next year BA (Hons.) in Chinese Language and Culture (CLC) and Japanese
Language and Culture (JLC) were introduced. The Institute has been offering MA
in ELT program, very unique and first of its kind in nature including research
work and teaching practicum along with taught course since 2001. It also
offers PhD and Mphil degrees in different languages regularly.
