Meeting Description:

In the context of current research practices, intermediality (synthesis or
interaction of arts) acquires prominence as a phenomenon of paradigmal status,
embracing manifold manifestations. The latter mark changes in the modes of
artistic reasoning and syncretism of artistic perception. Literary works and
other artistic forms are essentially viewed as hybrid artefacts produced and
constructed by creative practices, imagination, and insight of an artistic
personality (personalities). It embodies traces of polymodality of artistic
mind and poetic thinking, intersemiotic interface of various arts, polycode
and multimodal synthesis of art forms, interaction of different cultures from
the perspective of multiculturalism and national identity, as well as
culturally specific properties of artistic image construction,
narrativization, intrasemiotic and intersemiotic translation.

Currently, the phenomenon of intermediality transgresses the boundaries of
literary and artistic discourses, entering the sphere of public, academic, and
media communication.
The conference discussion suggests considering the phenomenon of
intermediality from the standpoint of retrospect and modernity, including two
key perspectives – ontological (phenomenology of intermediality) and
epistemology (intermediality studies).

The conference will elucidate the role of intermediality and adjacent
phenomena in shaping the contemporary scholarly episteme; history and current
research on the interplay of arts in multidisciplinary contexts; prospects of
intermediality studies.

We invite proposals from philologists (linguists, literary scholars,
translation scholars), researchers in arts and cultural studies, as well as
other fields of humanities. New original ideas and topics targeting the range
of conference discussion are welcome too.
Working languages of the conference are Ukrainian and English.
