PhD Program in Cognitive Neuroscience and Philosophy of Mind
IUSS Pavia / San Raffaele University Milan, Italy

http://www.iusspavia.it/bando2 (Italian)
http://www.iusspavia.it/call-for-applications2 (English)

A call for *3 three-year fully funded PhD positions* is available for the PhD
Program in *Cognitive Neuroscience and Philosophy of Mind* promoted by a
consortium between the University School for Advanced Studies IUSS Pavia and
Vita-Salute San Raffaele University in Milan, and directed by Prof. Valentina
Bambini.

*3 positions* are available in the following areas:
(a) Theoretical syntax and neurolinguistics;
(b) Cognitive and neurocognitive science;
(c) Philosophy.

Research fields in the “Theoretical syntax and neurolinguistics” area:

- theoretical syntax
- syntax-semantics interface
- computational linguistics and processing complexity
- neurosyntax
- experimental pragmatics and neuropragmatics
- linguistic-communicative impairment

Detailed research fields are available here:
http://www.iusspavia.it/research-fields2

The PhD program aims at training qualified scholars in both theoretical
reflection and experimental study. Research projects will be promoted both in
traditional areas which evolve through connections with cognitive sciences
(syntax, computational linguistics, experimental pragmatics, philosophy of
mind and of cognitive science, epistemology, philosophy of mathematics, logic
and language, ethical and social issues concerning studies on human cognition)
and in new and emerging domains (machine learning, neurosyntax,
neuropragmatics, social cognitive neuroscience, neuroeconomics, neuroethics).
Young scholars will be trained both by consolidating and strengthening their
competences in their original areas of study, and by offering them the
required theoretical and experimental tools in the relevant subjects of
cognitive sciences and neurosciences, linguistics, and philosophy. The general
aim is to favor a multidisciplinary approach which will allow students to
foster original and innovative research in their specific field.

Studentships amount to approx. 15.300€/year; monthly stipend is increased by
50% during study exchanges abroad, with additional mobility and
research-related budget available from 2nd year. The PhD program promotes
mobility and internationalization, and additional inward and outward mobility
funding can be made available via research projects at NEtS Center
(http://www.iusspavia.it/nets).

The PhD program issues a final joint certificate between San Raffaele Milan
and IUSS Pavia.
A complete description of the program, the official call and links to the
submission system can be found at:
