Description:

Position Description: 
The Department of Linguistics at Yale University invites applications for a
full-time Lector in American Sign Language to begin either on January 1st or
on July 1, 2021. The initial appointment will run for three years, and is
potentially renewable. The Lector will offer 5 courses in ASL and will be
responsible for the continued development of the ASL curriculum. 

Qualifications:
The successful applicant will have completed an MA, PhD, or equivalent degree
in ASL, linguistics, applied linguistics, Sign Language Education, or a
related field, will have experience in teaching ASL in an academic setting,
will have native or near-native proficiency in ASL, and will have excellent
command of written English. ASLTA Certification desirable, but not necessary.

Required Documentation:

- A statement laying out the applicant's teaching philosophy and experience, 
- Evidence regarding teaching effectiveness (e.g., course evaluations or
supervisor reviews), 
- A sample syllabus (or other relevant teaching materials).
- Three letters of recommendation. 

To ensure full consideration, applications should be submitted by October 30,
2020, but later applications may be considered until the position is filled.
