Linguistic Field(s): General Linguistics

Language Family(ies): Turkic

Call Deadline: 02-Nov-2020

Meeting Description:

The Workshop on Turkic and Languages in Contact with Turkic (TU+) is an annual
workshop bringing together all aspects of linguistic research on Turkic
languages, as well as languages in contact with Turkic and those spoken in
geographic regions where Turkic languages are spoken. TU+ serves as a venue
for work on a wide variety of languages from well-studied varieties to
underrepresented and under-studied languages without a formal venue of their
own. TU+ is meant to provide an environment for collaboration, and a space to
share ideas big or small.

Because of the unpredictability and serious nature of the ongoing COVID-19
pandemic, the TU+6 organizers have decided to host the conference virtually on
a digital video platform. We hope that this removes barriers for presenters
and allows wider participation in this year’s workshop. Still, we are
dedicated to finding creative ways to foster the sense of community and
connectedness that TU+ is known for.

Invited Speakers:
Balkız Öztürk (Boğaziçi Üniversitesi, İstanbul)
Barış Kabak (Universität Würzburg, Würzburg)

Call for Papers:

Abstract Submissions are now open for 30 minute talks (20 minutes + 10 minutes
for questions) and for speed talks in lieu of posters (10 minutes + 5 minutes
for questions).

Deadline for Submission: November 2, 2020
Notification of Acceptance: December 13, 2020

Please submit abstracts to the EasyChair site here:
https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=tu6. All abstracts will be anonymously
peer-reviewed.

Abstract Submission Guidelines:
- Abstracts should contain original research that, at the time of submission,
has neither been published nor accepted for publication.
- Abstracts may describe either early-stage or mature research projects, and
may -- but need not -- contain a fully worked-out analysis
- Submissions are limited to two abstracts maximum per person: one individual
and one joint abstract, or two joint works
- Abstracts and talks should be submitted and presented in English
- To ensure anonymity, abstracts should not reveal the identity of the
author(s) in any way, and should not contain excessive references to the
author’s publications or acknowledgements to granting agencies or academic
bodies
- Abstracts must be submitted in PDF format. If the abstract contains phonetic
transcriptions or non-ASCII text, please ensure that all fonts are properly
embedded
- Abstracts should not exceed two pages (8.5x11 “letter” or A4) with 1 inch or
2.54cm margins, including all data, figures, tables, and references. The font
size must be at least 12pt.

All papers presented at the conference (both ‘full’ and ‘speed’ talks) will be
invited to submit for a proceedings volume distributed by the Linguistic
Society of America.

All questions and comments should be addressed to: tu.plus.workshop at gmail.com
