Subject: Updated Socilitation for NSF/NEH DLI-DEL Program

Dear Colleagues,

Please take note that a new solicitation is available for the NSF Dynamic
Language Infrastructure - NEH Documenting Endangered Languages (DLI-DEL)
Program. https://www.nsf.gov/pubs/2020/nsf20603/nsf20603.htm . The program
continues to support research and infrastructure around the documentation of
endangered languages and the new solicitation does not make changes to the
types or numbers of projects supported by the program.

The new solicitation has added a second annual due date so that grant
proposals can now be submitted at two different times of year. The upcoming
due date for 2020 is November 18th, with due dates February 15th annually and
September 15th annually thereafter. In addition to the new due date, the
solicitation also moves the application process for DLI-DEL Fellowships from
NSF to NEH, in order to streamline that process for applicants and for the
funding agencies. Please see https://www.neh.gov/program/dli-del-fellowships
for details about the Fellowship application process.

Interested researchers should visit the program website -
https://www.nsf.gov/funding/pgm_summ.jsp?pims_id=505705 . Additionally,
prospective PIs can also review projects funded earlier by the DEL program by
searching NSF’s Award Search (e.g.
https://nsf.gov/awardsearch/advancedSearchResult?ProgEleCode=7719&BooleanEleme
nt=All).  NEH’s DLI-DEL website -
https://www.neh.gov/grants/preservation/documenting-endangered-languages -
provides additional information about the program. Prospective PIs might also
consider searching the internet for other DLI-DEL related resources, which
include YouTube videos and FAQ-like documents.

Please also note that NSF’s associated DLI Doctoral Dissertation Research
Improvement Grant opportunity is unchanged, with proposals accepted at any
time (see https://www.nsf.gov/funding/pgm_summ.jsp?pims_id=505710). NSF’s
Linguistics Program also continues to support the language research community
with its funding opportunities for senior researchers as well as doctoral
students (see https://www.nsf.gov/funding/pgm_summ.jsp?pims_id=5408). Early
career scholars should also be aware of the NSF SBE Postdoctoral Research
Fellowship (SPRF) Program
(https://www.nsf.gov/funding/pgm_summ.jsp?pims_id=504810).

Our best wishes,
Tyler Kendall & Joan Maling
