Meeting Description:

The panel ''Inclusive communication at University and Tertiary Education
Level” will take place during the 17th International Pragmatics Conference
(IPrA), 27 June - 2 July 2021, ZHAW Winterthur (Switzerland). 

The panel is set up to address 'inclusive communication', its linguistic and
institutional (pre)conditions, as a part of pragmatics. By 'inclusive
communication' we understand an approach uniting hitherto different fields,
e.g. efforts in barrier-free communication, Universal Design, gender-equal
language, easy-to-read language, and aspects of intercultural communication in
an interdisciplinary and transformative way, that includes communicative
requirements of persons with impairments and/or special needs. 

Subjects of talks in the panel may include: Institutional communication with
regard to inclusion, Identity and co-construction of agency in contexts of
inclusion, Inclusion of Sign Languages and other languages and varieties in
the curriculum, Inclusive language vis-a-vis gender-equal language,
technological / digital aspects of inclusive communication, augmentative and
alternative communication (AAC).


Call for Papers: 

If you are interested in participating in our panel, please send us the
provisional title of your abstract until September 30 and your abstract until
October 20, 2020 (to Christiane Hohenstein (hohc at zhaw.ch ), Magdalene
Levy-Toedter (magdalene.levy at fom.de )). The abstract of your panel
contribution (20 minutes presentation) should contain min. 250 and max. 500
