Kiel University aims to attract more qualified women to professorships. 

The English Department in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of Kiel
University invites applications for a W 3 (Full) Professorship in English
Linguistics to start on April 1, 2023. 

The future job holder shall be responsible for the subject area of English
Linguistics in research and teaching. The future job holder is expected to
demonstrate a broad competence in English linguistics in research. Wide
teaching experience in core areas of linguistics is a prerequisite.
Their/her/his publications are expected to include research in the field of
variationist linguistics, particularly with regard to the heterogeneity of
global anglophone cultures in a synchronic perspective. An additional research
focus (publications) on language in the context of digital media and/or
culture would be desirable. 

The candidate should hold a university degree in English or American studies
or a neighbouring discipline and a qualified doctoral degree in English
linguistics (or an equivalent discipline). They should have an excellent
publication record, outstanding academic achievements and a track record of
acquiring external research funding. Experience with collaborative projects
and participation in joint research activities at Kiel University (in
particular in the research group Arealität und Sozialität in der Sprache), as
well as the promotion of international cooperations and an involvement in
academic self-governance are expected.
