About the role: 
As an experienced team member, an Associate Linguist develops, maintains, and
improves Natural Language Processing (NLP) systems for the client. The
responsibilities of an Associate Linguist range from data curation and
grammar/template creation to testing, documentation, and creative problem
solving.

A successful Associate Linguist will consistently deliver high quality output
in a timely manner and collaborate effectively with colleagues, management,
and stakeholders. The role of an Associate Linguist requires great flexibility
to work (simultaneously) on different projects and domains as well as adopting
new tools and workflows as they get introduced. Mutual support and knowledge
transfer through training of new team members, participation in regular
meetings/discussions, and peer reviews are also an essential part of the
Associate Linguist’s role.

Duties and Key Responsibilities:
 - Train and/or evaluate NLP or dialogue systems, identify errors/regressions
and propose solutions
 - Contribute to various NLP tasks assigned to the team
 - Create, review, and annotate NLP linguistic data
 - Operate under the guidance of the respective NLP Team Lead and other
supportive leadership roles and
communicate internally to these roles in case any support is needed
 - Provide timely comments on the progress of the assigned tasks and update
the metadata through the
provided tools
 - Contribute measurable achievements to the team’s output
 - Work independently on most of the tasks that get assigned to the language
team
 - Actively transfer their knowledge to newcomers through training sessions
and buddy support
 - Quickly grasp technical concepts, learn inhouse
tools and continuously develop new knowledge
 - Demonstrate keen interest in technology, natural language processing,
linguistics, and linguistic resources
 - Possess attention to detail and good organizational and communication
skills
 - Fulfil any other duties as required by management and within the competency
of the post holder

Minimum Qualifications:
 - Native or near-native level of Canadian French
 - Bachelor’s degree in Computational Linguistics, Linguistics or a related
discipline is required
 - Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
 - Good interpersonal and communication skills
 - Capable of sound judgement and making considered decisions on a task level
 - Commitment to good practice and leading by example
 - Communicates well in written and oral form with multi-nationals on all
levels in English and French
 - Ability to manage competing tasks and priorities to ensure delivery on time
and adherence to quality
standards
