Meeting Description:

The Department of Linguistics, University of Kerala, Kariavattom Campus,
Thiruvananthapuram is organizing a three-day International Webinar on ‘Current
Trends in Lexical Semantics’ from 1st to 3rd February, 2022.

Semantics is a major branch of linguistics that aims to discover and model the
way that the linguistic entities, across languages, convey meaning. Lexical
Semantics, a subfield of semantics, is the study of word meanings. A proper
understanding of word meanings concerns all academic disciplines, as their
clear understanding allows academicians to communicate their message clearly
without misinterpretation. Semantics and lexical semantics provide a framework
for analyzing and understanding texts, and allow scientists and academicians
to link language to other disciplines. The purpose of this webinar is to bring
together academicians, educators, philosophers and researchers to explore and
discuss the modern and recent approaches to meaning and the intersection of
semantics and lexical semantics with other disciplines.
