Meeting Description:

The aim of FDG2022 is to further elaborate the model of Functional Discourse
Grammar (FDG) as proposed by Kees Hengeveld  & J. Lachlan Mackenzie. FDG is
the grammatical component of an overall functional theory of verbal
interaction. Full descriptions of FDG may be found in Hengeveld, Kees &
Mackenzie, J. Lachlan. 2008. Functional Discourse Grammar: A
typologically-based theory of language structure. Oxford: Oxford University
Press; and in Keizer, Evelien. 2015. A Functional Discourse Grammar for
English. Oxford: Oxford University Press.

To enhance the discussion between participants, all sessions at the conference
will be plenary. A poster session will be part of the programme. The language
of the conference will be English.


2nd Call for Papers:

FDG2022 will take place in Dopersduin, Oorsprongweg 3, 1871 HA Schoorl, The
Netherlands. Dopersduin is a conference center located near the sea and dunes
in North-Holland, at approximately an hour’s travel from Amsterdam. Affordable
full-board, from June 27-July 1, 2022, and bicycle rental arrangements will be
offered. The second circular will provide more detailed information.

Abstracts should contain at least the following items: a clearly defined and
well-motivated research question; crucial examples illustrating the relevance
of the research question; and the main conclusions of the paper. Abstracts
should be approximately 1,000 words in length, i.e. roughly 3 pages, and
should not include the name of the author. References to literature cited
should be provided in addition to the 1,000 words. References containing the
name of the author should be avoided. In case they are given, they will be
suppressed before the abstract is sent to the programme committee. Please
indicate in the accompanying message whether you want to present a paper or a
poster. The deadline for the submission of abstracts of papers and posters is
January 14, 2022.  

Abstracts should be submitted electronically as a Word-file to the
International Secretary of the FGF at fdg at uva.nl.

The members of the Organizing Committee are: Hongmei Fang, Kees Hengeveld
(chair), and Lois Kemp, all from the University of Amsterdam. 

The Programme Committee consists of the following members: Kees Hengeveld
(University of Amsterdam), J. Lachlan Mackenzie (VU Amsterdam), and Hella
Olbertz (Chair, Universidade de Santiago de Compostela / University of
Amsterdam). The Programme Committee will evaluate anonymized abstracts and
decide on their inclusion in the conference programme. Abstracts submitted by
members of the Programme Committee will be evaluated by an external
specialist.
