Description:

A Doctoral Research Fellowship (SKO 1017) in Spanish language and linguistics
is available at the Department of Literature, Area Studies and European
Languages (ILOS), University of Oslo. The fully funded 3-year PhD position is
open to projects in lexical semantics and its interfaces with grammar and
pragmatics, with an emphasis on Spanish.

We invite proposals for a PhD research project on one of a wide range of
topics in the area of word meaning and the relations between word meaning and
morphology, syntax, compositional semantics and pragmatics. Questions
addressed in this area may concern, inter alia, lexical decomposition, meaning
shifts in context, the division of labor between the lexicon, word formation
and syntax, event structure and the lexicon, lexical presupposition triggers,
or pragmatic markers. Proposals may focus exclusively on Spanish or on Spanish
in comparison to other languages, preferably Mainland Scandinavian, German or
English. Priority will be given to a proposal with a clear theoretical profile
and a strong empirical basis.

The main supervisor for the project will be associate professor Alexandra Anna
Spalek https://www.hf.uio.no/ilos/english/people/aca/alexaasp/

Application deadline: 1 April 2021

Expected start date: 1 September 2021
