Meeting Description:

After the success of the 1st International Conference on University
Telecollaboration in language classes: Teaching practices, linguistic
challenges and cultural horizons, held at Blida 2 University (Algeria) in
2019, we are pleased to announce the 2nd international conference on
University Telecollaboration in Language Classes: Teaching Practices,
Linguistic Challenges and Cultural Horizons. This second edition will provide
another opportunity to share and spread telecollaboration teachings on an
international scale. It will be co-organized, virtually, by The University of
Paris (France) and Moldova State University (Republic of Moldova), on October
15 & 16, 2021.

This edition aims to bring together teachers/scholars working in the field of
telecollaboration -also called distant collaboration- in order to discuss
practices and innovations as well as to take stock of this teaching practice
from its origins to the present day. Thus, it will look at examples of
successes or failures of university telecollaborative projects carried out in
various geographical spheres, in all languages, without any restriction.
Likewise, the speakers will provide information on the solutions adopted in
difficult or unsuccessful telecollaboration situations, and suggest areas for
improvement in terms of future telecollaborations.

Call for Papers:

Areas of research include the following:
1. Telecollaboration from its origins to the present day. This area tackles
telecollaboration experiences from the moment they were launched to where they
are at nowadays, taking into account their evolutions over time, as well as
the challenges, successes, failures, etc., that they faced up till now.
2. Telecollaboration and didactics. This area deals with online pedagogical
exchanges between the teacher-tutors, the pedagogical practices and
techniques used in a telecollaboration, as well as their impacts on the
motivation of the learners, on teaching practices, on the learning of foreign
languages, on the translation process, etc.
3. Telecollaboration and culture. This area will deal with the cultural
aspects of telecollaboration in all its dimensions, across different
geographic and linguistic spheres.
4. Telecollaboration and assessment. This area involves the criteria and tools
likely to assess the skills targeted by particular productions adapted to the
complexity and diversity of learning situations. The speakers will explain
the evaluation grids which enable teachers and students to assess learning
progress in the framework of telecollaboration.
5. Telecollaboration and ICT. This area deals with the role and the importance
of information and communication technologies in telecollaborative projects.
Thus, this area sheds light on the gaps observed in learners with regard to
the mastery of ICT in the context of telecollaboration, as well as the
solutions adopted for better telecollaboration through ICT.
6. Telecollaboration and prospects. This area concerns paths for future
projects based on personal experiences. It also stands as suggestions for the
proposal of the creation of networks, organizations, associations, or else,
related to telecollaboration between teachers/scholars from around the world,
and, thus, of involving learners belonging to different linguistic, cultural
and geographical horizons.

Proposals (abstracts of a maximum of 600 words) need to be sent to both of
these emails: colloquetelecollaboration2 at gmail.com; rachi130 at yahoo.fr

Instructions to the authors of proposals:
We kindly ask the authors of proposals to scrupulously respect the following
conditions:
1. Proposals must relate to personal telecollaboration experiences, which have
led to concrete results (success or failure).
2. The telecollaboration experiences that will be presented during this
conference must take place between learners based in different countries.
Likewise, these telecollaboration experiences must have been coordinated by
teachers/scholars, at least two of whom are affiliated to higher education
institutions located in two different countries.
3. Proposals must include a title, and clearly mention the following elements:
research topic of the proposal, methodology, concrete results, keywords, and a
list of a maximum 5 bibliographical references.
4. Proposals which will only deal with the theoretical aspects will not be
evaluated.

Important Dates:
March 31, 2021: 1st Deadline to send proposals to both emails mentioned above.
April 20, 2021: 2nd and final deadline to send proposals to both emails
mentioned above.
July 1, 2021: Notification of acceptance or refusal.
September 15, 2021: Draft of the conference program to be sent to
participants.
October 1, 2021: Publication of the final program of the conference.
