Description:

Call for applications for a funded PhD position to research the production
and/or comprehension of Control structures (and related structures) in
linguistically impaired population, at CLUL (University of Lisbon’s Centre of
Linguistics).

Information about the institution:
CLUL is a Portuguese public R&D institution founded in 1932 as a centre of
philological studies, having developed into a research centre in linguistics
that expanded its activities and scientific intervention over time. The centre
is hosted by the Faculty of Letters of the University of Lisbon (FLUL) and
committed to research and development in the field of linguistics, with a
particular emphasis on Portuguese − including dialectal, diachronic, social
and national varieties − and on Portuguese-related Creoles.

The grantee will be hosted by CLUL’s Grammar & Resources (G&R) group, which is
dedicated to modeling linguistic knowledge, integrating interfaces between
different areas of grammar and knowledge about how language is put to use,
with particular foci on language acquisition, grammatical description,
language contact, computational and corpus linguistics.

Position:
CLUL is offering a PhD scholarship for a candidate who will develop a project
on the production and/or comprehension of Control structures (and related
structures) in linguistically impaired population (children diagnosed with
Developmental Language Disorder or Autism Spectrum Disorder with language
impairment; or adults with aphasia). The scholarship is initially offered for
2 years and may be renewed up to an additional period of 18 months pending the
performance of the grantee and funding availability. The successful candidate
is expected to start in October 2021.

Complete information on the candidate’s desired profile, submission
requirements and evaluation criteria can be found at the application link
provided below.

Queries about the application and selection process should be directed to
Silvana Abalada, CLUL secretary, at the contact information below.
