Meeting Description:

Westminster International University in Tashkent is pleased to host the 2nd
International Conference on Education and Linguistics (ICEL 2021) with a focus
on Energising English Language Teacher Research and Practice.

Current research and practice in the language teaching field requires to
adjust to the rapid globalization of all spheres of life to account for the
changes taking place around us. A classroom is a place where teaching and
learning happens, but limited research is conducted from teachers’ and
students’ perspective.

While the reforms in education occur from the top-down approach, they are
found to be less effective. Thus, the bottom-up approach should be encouraged,
and teachers should be empowered to have more classroom-based action research.

For that reason, this conference encourages all educators to submit papers
focusing on the best evidence in research and practice. The conference aims to
set the platform that will contribute to a constructive dialogue in Central
Asia. It also brings together teachers and researchers not only from Central
Asia but also from other parts of the world to enhance current knowledge and
practice regarding language education.

Keynote Speakers:
 - Prof. Penny Ur (Israel)
 - Dr. Richard Smith (UK)
