Description:

Professor Maida Kosatica is looking to select a graduate student interested in
undertaking research in Semiotics of Sustainable Urban Spaces envisioned as an
urban (language) examination of the city as a space of communication, and
therefore, a linguistic object. The specific location(s) to be investigated
will be determined once the successful candidate has been appointed.
Applicants must have obtained a master degree in sociolinguistics or a closely
related field within three years prior to the start of employment. Expertise
in sociolinguistic fieldwork and qualitative methods is essential. Evidence of
an existing research interest in urban space, sustainability, and social
inequalities is highly desirable.

Research Profile: 
 - Proficiency in English and German
 - Skills in semiotic analysis and willingness to develop them
 - Interest in climate change, sustainability, climate refugees, environmental
discourse
 - An explicit commitment to interdisciplinary work that brings together and
builds upon a range of critical theories
