Description:

The Department of Applied Linguistics/ESL at Georgia State University
(downtown Atlanta campus) invites applications for a tenure-track position at
the level of Assistant Professor in Natural Language Processing to begin
August 2022. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop
upper division undergraduate courses and graduate courses and seminars in
Natural Language Processing and to supervise graduate research for the M.A.
and Ph.D. programs. As appropriate, new faculty will have an opportunity to
affiliate with the Department of Computer Science. Tenure-track faculty
typically teach a 2-2 course load. Teaching responsibilities include courses
at all levels. 

Applicants are expected to have the following qualifications: 
 - a Ph.D. in applied linguistics, linguistics, computer sciences, cognitive
sciences, or other related fields by date of hire (August 2022); 
 - evidence of the ability to establish and maintain a successful research
program; 
 - evidence of ability to work on large, collaborative projects; and 
 - evidence of the ability to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

 - a Cover Letter (2 single-spaced pages) that includes an overview of
commitments to research, teaching, and diversity and evidence of
qualifications for the position; 
 - a CV including a complete publication list (if the doctorate is not already
in hand, please indicate the expected date of graduation); and 
 - the names and affiliations of three potential referees. 
All three documents should be combined into a single PDF file
(LASTNAME.FIRSTNAME.pdf) and submitted as an email attachment to Chair,
Natural Language Processing Search Committee, at the application email address
below. Those applicants long-listed by the search committee will be contacted
for three reference letters. Applications received by November 15, 2021 are
assured full consideration; preliminary interviews will be conducted via
WebEx.
