Meeting Description:

The Symposium aims to promote worldwide collaboration on Chinese theoretical
and applied linguistics by giving researchers an opportunity to share their
work.

We are honoured to have six invited plenary speakers, Professor Zhao Yang from
Peking University, Professor He Lin from Wuhan University, Professor Boping
Yuan from Cambridge, Professor George Zhang from Richmond American University,
Professor Wang Jun from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and Mr David Su Liqun
from Meridian Chinese Studies. Plenary talks will be either online or in
person, but all will be live streamed.


Call for Papers:

ISOCTAL4 will be a hybrid event for attendees in person in Leeds, and
live-streamed online.

If you are interested in submitting an abstract, the deadline is 15 April
2022, by 17.00 UK time.

Abstract submissions are invited for talks on any topics in Chinese
theoretical and applied linguistics – understood broadly as covering all
Sinitic languages, e.g. Mandarin, Cantonese and all regional varieties -
including syntax, morphology, phonetics and phonology, semantics, language
variation and sociolinguistic studies, diachronic change, language contact,
typology and comparative studies, child language acquisition, second language
acquisition and processing, bi/multilingualism, code-switching, applications
of theory to pedagogy.

Abstracts should be no more than 400 words long, and should be submitted in
both English and Chinese (ie 400 words for each language version).
