Visiting Assistant Professor in Computational Linguistics or Psycholinguistics

The Department of Linguistics at the University of Illinois at
Urbana-Champaign invites applications for a full-time, Visiting Assistant
Professor. The candidate should have expertise in computational linguistics
and/or psycholinguistics, and be able to teach undergraduate and introductory
graduate courses in at least one of those areas. Preference will be given to
candidates who can teach courses in both areas. Applicants are expected to
have an active research agenda, mentor students, and engage in service
activities appropriate to academic rank. We welcome applicants with expertise
in areas such as (but not limited to): ERP methods; sentence processing;
artificial neural networks/deep learning; machine translation; computational
morphology.

Target starting date is August 16, 2022. Salary is commensurate with
qualifications and experience. This is a full-time, 9-month appointment,
non-tenure-track position, renewable yearly subject to enrollments, funding,
and positive performance evaluations. A PhD in Linguistics or related area,
with specialization in psycholinguistics and/or computational linguistics, is
required by the appointment start date. Candidates with superior
qualifications who will complete all the Ph.D. requirements within the first
appointment semester may be appointed at the rank of Instructor. After the
Ph.D. requirement is met, the appointment will be changed to Visiting
Assistant Professor.
