Description:
7OOO Languages is a nonprofit organization with the mission to empower
communities around the world to teach, learn and sustain their
endangered languages. We partner with communities to make free
language-learning courses so they can teach, learn, and sustain their
languages. With 22 courses published, we’re growing fast and looking
for passionate interns to join us.

As a Mobile Application Development Intern, you will work to build
upon and develop a mobile application that serves communities around
the world interested in revitalizing their endangered languages. You
will incorporate feedback from communities and channel that into a
user-friendly mobile application design.

This is the ideal position for an independent, driven person who wants
to use their computer science skills to make a difference in people’s
lives while learning about the fundamentals of project management, and
language learning design and software.

We strongly encourage applications from Indigenous individuals or
individuals from minoritized communities. Applicants do not need to be
currently enrolled in college/university to apply. Applicants are
encouraged from countries outside of the U.S. but must be able to
communicate effectively in English.

Duties:
-       Work with the Program Manager or Executive Director to
determine the goals, scope & deliverables for mobile application
features.
-       Develop and build out new features on existing mobile
application
-       Incorporate feedback from Program Manager, Executive Director
and Indigenous communities to edit and update existing mobile
application
-       Manage development and keep project on schedule.
-       Maintain open-source software files
-       Manage and maintain deployment to both Apple and Android app
stores

Ideal Qualifications:
-       Minimum 1-2 years experience with React Native, JavaScript,
MongoDB, AWS, Expo, and Node.js/Express.
-       Minimum 2 years experience with Mobile App development.
-       Pursuing a BS/MS in Computer Science/Computer Engineering or
graduated with a BS/MS/similar degree.
-       Familiarity with Indigenous, endangered language, and language
revitalization issues
-       Experience learning or studying a second language

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: Internship, 1O hrs./week, 3-6
months in duration
Pay Range: $2O-$3O USD/hour
Location: Remote
Reporting to: Executive Director
Start Date: Mid-January 2023
