Brussel is looking for a full-time tenure-track assistant professor in French
linguistics and applied linguistics.

Teaching: 
The appointed faculty member will be responsible for several course units in
the field of French linguistics and applied linguistics, amounting to
approximately 24 ECTS of self-taught course units, possibly supplemented by
other course units taught by an assistant under the responsibility of the
appointed faculty member. The precise selection of course units will be
determined in function of the needs of the study programs, but the contents of
the courses can be determined in consultation with the program directors so
that a connection can be found with the expertise of the faculty member to be
recruited. These course units also require the supervision of working students
(‘werkstudenten’), and each faculty member is also expected to supervise a
number of students determined by the study programs for their Bachelor's and
Master's theses.

Research: 
The appointed faculty member will conduct research in French (applied)
linguistics, linking up with and strengthening one of the research priorities
of the Center for Linguistics (CLIN - https://clin.research.vub.be/), and one
of the research priorities of the Brussels Institute for Applied Linguistics
(BIAL - https://bial.research.vub.be/). In addition, active fundraising and
supervision of doctoral students in one of the aforementioned areas is
expected, as is building an international network in one of the aforementioned
fields.

Other Duties: 
The appointed faculty member will be expected to participate in the
administrative responsibilities of the research group(s), study program(s),
department and faculty -- contributions in terms of outreach and community
engagement, as well as in terms of internationalization.
