‘Le français au contact des cultures’

The annual conference of the Association of French Language Studies (AFLS)
will be held at the University of Exeter, UK, from Monday 18 to Wednesday 20
July 2022.

The Exeter 2022 AFLS conference focuses on the impact that contact with
cultures, societies, and languages (as evolving phenomena) has on the French
language.

How is this contact reflected in language change and variation?
How does it create and modify our perception of French language?
To what extent does it influence language acquisition?
How does it inform, shape, or integrate with French language teaching?

2nd Call for Papers:

Deadline extended to 11 Mar, 2022

We invite papers that address any topic in the broad area of “Le français au
contact des cultures” or that fall within the areas traditionally covered by
AFLS. Papers taking a wide variety of theoretical and methodological
approaches are welcome.

Conference papers are welcome in either French or English, and abstracts
should be written in the language of the presentation. Speakers will be given
30 minutes for oral papers (20 minutes, plus 10 minutes for questions).
Speakers will have a choice between doing their presentation virtually
(online) or in person (on campus), as part of the registration process.

Abstracts may be submitted via the EasyChair platform. Abstracts should be no
longer than 300 words (including title and references), plus 5 keywords, and
should be sent by 11 March 2022. Abstracts should be anonymised and should
state explicitly which field they subscribe to (using the keywords to do so).
