Subject: IMPRS Conference on Interdisciplinary Approaches in the Language Sciences

Full Title: IMPRS Conference on Interdisciplinary Approaches in the Language Sciences

Date: 01-Jun-2022 - 03-Jun-2022
Location: Max Planck Institute of Psycholinguistics (Nijmegen, Netherlands), Netherlands
Contact Person: Kevin Lam
Meeting Email: imprsconference at mpi.nl
Web Site: https://www.mpi.nl/imprs-conference

Linguistic Field(s): Cognitive Science; Language Acquisition; Neurolinguistics; Psycholinguistics

Call Deadline: 15-Mar-2022

Meeting Description:

The International Max Planck Research School (IMPRS) for Language Sciences
will host the third edition of its conference series from June 1-3, 2022 in
hybrid format.

The aim of the biennial IMPRS conference series on Interdisciplinary
Approaches in the Language Sciences is to inspire the next generation of
language scientists to take on new challenges that will further our
understanding of the human language ability.

Our third edition will focus on four main themes, namely the bigger picture of
language acquisition with Prof. Dr. Jesse Snedeker and Dr. Tilbe Göksun, the
cognitive and neural dynamics of language production with Dr. Kristof
Strijkers and Dr. Xiaochen Zheng, the multidimensionality of language
comprehension with Prof. Dr. Arthur Samuel and Dr. Linda Drijvers, the
evolution of language: from neurons to behaviour with Dr. Reyna Gordon and Dr.
Daniela Vallentin.

A unique aspect of this conference is that, alongside presentations on
empirical research, we will organise an open ‘Behind The Science’ discussion
in which scientists share the sources of insights and inspiration that drive
their research. This way, early career scientists can discover much of the
unspoken yet essential processes that lead to ground-breaking research.
Moreover, several workshops will take place on the last day of the conference.

Call for Papers:

We invite abstract submissions from early-career researchers on all topics in
the language sciences until March 15. Short talks matching with the conference
themes will be selected from abstract submissions. A larger portion of
abstract submissions will be considered for poster presentations. On-going
research is welcome! It will be possible to present posters in both in-person
and online poster sessions. Find out more about abstract submission on our
website (https://www.mpi.nl/imprs-conference).
