Description:

The Faculty of Humanities at Leiden University invites applications for a
lectureship / a university lecturer / an assistant professor in Japanese
Linguistics. We are seeking applications from scholars of linguistics with
demonstrated teaching experience and research potential. The ideal candidate
has experience in supervising BA and MA theses, an in-depth understanding of
Japanese linguistics, and proficiency in the Japanese language. Key
responsibilities include:
 - Teaching and developing relevant courses for the BA Japan Studies, MA Asian
Studies, the BA and MA programs in Linguistics, and possibly other programs
such as International Studies or the Leiden University College;
 - Supervising BA and MA theses;
 - Conducting research in the field of Japanese linguistics including regular
dissemination of results through appropriate channels;
 - Securing external funding for research;
 - Contributing to administrative work within the Japan Studies program and/or
organizational activities of the Institute.

We are looking for a promising scholar to join our team by bringing in
expertise in the study of Japanese Linguistics. We particularly encourage
scholars working in the area of sociolinguistics to apply.
