Description:

The successful candidate will contribute original research, high quality
teaching, public impact, and leadership in Experimental Phonetics/Speech
Science, Laboratory Phonology, Speech Perception, Sound Change, or another
area of Phonetics which complements or brings new dimensions of expertise to
existing strengths in our department. The ability to teach acoustic phonetics
is essential. Research areas that are already well represented in the
department include articulatory phonetics, prosody, phonetic fieldwork,
sociophonetics, theoretical, developmental and historical phonology, and
speech technology. 

The post includes teaching at all levels of the curriculum in Phonetics,
contributing to our thriving undergraduate and MSc programmes, and supervising
PhD students. The successful candidate will be expected to have an excellent
teaching and publication record for their career stage, and to demonstrate
potential for attracting external grant funding. The potential to make a
significant contribution to the teaching and research culture of the School is
also required. 

There is an opportunity for appointment at senior lecturer level, for which
the post holders will be expected to have demonstrated leadership experience
and to contribute actively to the management of the Subject Area.
